PART 1

May I see your identification?

Yes, certainly, please allow me a moment to flip to the page with my credentials – okay, here it is, please take a look.

What is your full name?

My first name is Fredrick and my family name is Smithson, please just call me Fred for short.

Do you work or study?

I both work as an English teacher and I’m also studying my Masters in Educational Psychology since I plan to develop advanced learning materials to help students worldwide pass standardized exams.

(*be proficient in using coordinating, correlative and subordinating conjunctions!)

What do you do at the weekends? (*Quantitative (measurable) paraphrasing is a very good skill to master for communication and for better band scores on the IELTS!)

Well, on Saturdays and Sundays I usually have a bit of free time, I’d say an average of 8 hours or so, the rest I spend with homework, but during that free time, I like to hang out with my friends or pursue my hobbies. I’m an avid poetry writer and I play the piano. Just this past weekend, I was learning to play a new jazz piece.

Let’s talk about transportation.

Do you know how to drive a car? (*When a question asks about your experience, you should use the present perfect grammar.)

Yes, I do know how to drive a car. I have been driving for the past 20 years, I got my license when I was 17. Although I drive quite a bit, I’m not a big fan of it as I find it boring and stressful most of the time. This morning I was stuck in traffic for half an hour driving to this exam.

How often do you ride the bus?

These days I haven’t used the bus at all, not only because of the pandemic, but also because I recently purchased a new car so I haven’t had the need to use public transport. I’d say the last time I used the city bus was about two years ago to get to school.

Which is your favorite type of transportation? Why?

Well, if I had to choose, I would say that my favorite way to get from point A to point B is by plane, especially for long distances, because it is quick, I get some delicious food on the way, and the scenery is just amazing from 30000 feet in the air.

Where can you catch the nearest train in your area?

The nearest railway station from my home is roughly 20 kilometers away, about 20 minutes by car. It is called the Grand Central Station and it has railway lines going to many other major cities on Vancouver Island.

How has public transportation changed in the past 100 years?

When you ride a bicycle, what should you do to stay safe?
